We Have the Right People in Neshoba County Sheriff's Department

Gerry Manley, died under suspicious circumstances in Philadelphia, Mississippi, but his mother, Dale James (Sims), feels we have the right people in office now.

"I've met with them and talked with them, and I don't feel they are the kind of people who would try and cover anything up."

"However, I can't say that about the former authorities, Sistrunk and Adkins. When I tried to find my son, they fought me every step of the way, and because of that I will always feel something happened to my son that was covered up."

For families that have lost loved ones while in the custody of police,  or when the police were somehow involved, how you are treated makes all the difference in the world.

"If they had only tried to help me or treated me right, maybe I would not constantly torture myself thinking that my son was killed rather than died in an accident.  I feel because my son had been in trouble with the law, they thought I was a nobody, he was a nobody and that I would just go away, but I didn't and I won't."

"I need peace, I need to know what happened to my son."

Coming soon.... What Happened to Gerry Manley?

Despite Arrest in Death of RexDale Henry Lingering Doubts Persist

Rexdale Henry, 53, a member of The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians from the Bogue Chitto Community, was found dead in his jail cell at 10am on July 14, 2015, after being arrested for old fines.

Before running for the office of Tribal Council, Rexdale worked as an employee of Pearl River Resort as a Craps Dealer. He was know for his fun-loving-personality, kindness, and ability to keep those around him upbeat and laughing.

Although Justyn Schlegel, 34, of 11500 Rd 571, was arrested and charged with murder in the death of Henry, people who have know both men since childhood, don't believe Schlegel is guilty.

"It's bullsh**", says one friend angrily, I've know Justyn all of my life, and I know Rexdale, and in a jail with no weapons, hand to hand combat, Rexdale would have whipped Justyn's a**"

Another aquaintance and friend of both Rexdale and Justyn said:

"There is no way Justyn would ever do something like that. Justyn has some problems, probably stemming from drugs, and I think they needed a scape goat, and with him being a little off, probably because of the drugs, they found the perfect one."

Because of a mistrust of the police, most will not allow me to use their names, but another one said:

"I have been in a holding cell there before and a fight broke out, but they did not break it up, they just let them fight. The jail should still be held responsible, because you should be protected while you are there."

The autopsy report says Rexdales death was from blunt force trauma, and sounds eerily similar to the death of 29 year old Michael McDougle, who died 8 months earlier from blunt force trauma to the head.

According to eyewitness testimony, Michael McDougle was beaten and tasered by officers of the Philadelphia Police Department while he was in handcuffs.  His lifeless body was discovered in his cell around 7:30 am on November 1, 2014.

Despite the fact that Philadelphia, Mississippi's name will forever be marred in the 1964 Murder/Lynching of three civil rights workers; James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner, things have gradually changed for the better.

However, after two suspicious deaths within a year at a Neshoba County jail, and the mysterious 1990 death of Scott Campbell, who was found hanging from his cell once the Philadelphia lights came back on after a mysterious blackout; some are not so sure it has changed enough.

Meanwhile, a niece of Justyn Schlegel, Chasity Renea Schlegel, has posted on Facebook:
Just wanna say we all make mistakes an do things we ain't proud of but mi uncle Justyn Schlegel didn't make the mistake of taken another man's life.... lord knows he would never harm anybody... jus plz keep mine an Rex dale Henry's family in yur prayers...‪#‎justiceforJustynandRex‬

At this time there are a lot of unanswered questions, like:

1.  Was Justyn Schlegel injured, especially his hand?
2.  Is there video tape of Rexdale's arrest, booking and activity outside his cell?
3.  When will the video be released to the public?
4.  What can we do to prevent this sort of thing from happening again?
5.  Is it time for the Philadelphia Police to start wearing body cameras?
